Special Care instructions for Mashiko Ware:

Mashiko Pottery is water absorbent by its nature.

Therefore, if used without “breaking in” first, liquids such as oil, soy sauce, sauce, and drinks such as tea will soak in or stain the dish, and you might not be able to take it off even washing with soap.

💡🌟We recommend to soak the vessel in clean water for about 30 minutes to 1 hour before using it, and then dry it thoroughly before using it (ideally for 2 to 3 days while returning the back and front).

When you use a piece that you haven't used for a while, it's best to run it under the water before serving the food.

Even with special care, mashiko pottery is still absorbent by nature, overtime food and oil will soak in little by little as you use it. However, it is said that mashiko pottery is something that enjoys and nurtures by its "change". So please enjoy engraving a wonderful history on your vessel.

Disclaimer:

Please note this product is 100% handmade with natural materials. Iron points, irregularities, and small holes can be seen in the handmade pottery. In some cases, the pebbles contained in the soil are exposed, and there are also holes where the pebbles used to be. There are parts where you can feel the unevenness and accumulation of the makeup mud and glaze, and where traces of air bubbles remain. In some cases, the glaze has shrunk and the base material is visible. You can feel the marks of the partition on the back side. Similar to the surface, individual differences can be seen in the baked color on the back side.
